on the other side, windows updates have additions and improvements in the service packs, not just bug fixes. they release incomplete OS's they just continue and call it a new os and updates are just bug fixes - they add 2 to 3 new features and take away 2 to 3 previous ones, that were often essential in backwards compatibility, in what they call a new OS. apologies for this selfish attitude of mineĪpple kind of cheats on this.
i don't want NI spending time make sure their software also runs on 10.6.8, when they already have to test with 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9.
this is how the capitalist system works.įor teaching and musical reasons, i have Pro Tools 10 and 11, Ableton 9 and Logic Pro X - i want NI to use their research and development money making sure their projects run on 10.8.5 -my OS - and Mavericks. The reality of the situation is that we basically need to buy a new computer every 3 or 4 years if we want to keep up to date with what is happening in terms of music making software. It also makes no sense to support an OS that no longer works with current versions of major DAWs such as Logic Pro X and Pro Tools 11. Apple no longer supporting as OS means that they will not help companies if there are issues with updates that have problems running with 10.6.8. In terms of alpha and beta testing, it makes no sense to test on an OS that is no longer supported by the company - i am talking about Apple and 10.6.8. I am not going to count up the number of instruments and effects that NI release - but it is quite a lot.
Ableton just deel with one piece of Software.
